Hydraulic Helm Unit
I just picked up a Marine Machine Hydraulic helm unit. Are you guys sure this isn't going to rip my steering/gauge panel out...its really heavy!!
Also, what size lines are recommended? I don't have the install instructions to tell me. I'll have some hoses custom made at a hydraulic shop.

When I installed mine in my 28 Pantera I added 1/2" of fiberglass to the back of the dash first before I cut out the new hole. The hoses you use are aeroquip -6

Which helm did you get, The big orange "CAPILANO" or the smaller black "CHARLENE"? You will have to make a spacer about 1.5" to go on the inside of your dash, if not your shaft will stick out too far. If you need help, please call me and I will offer any help you need. As far as the boat listing, Have you asked the previous owner??? He never mentioned it, and I personally tested that boat when it was originally sold to Ducky's boats with a 310 hp merc. Then Ducky's sold it to the guy you bought it from, Kelley, I think is his name, I believe he had told Joey that he had the boat running close to 90 mph. Anyway, if you can get the boat down here in the winter, I will be happy to run and fix the problem @ no charge to you. Let me know what you would like to do. Regards, Pepe @ Pantera.

Thanks for the reply. I have the smaller Char Lynn unit. But it is still very heavy!! What should I make the space from? Wood w/glass, aluminum or stainless? I have the facility to make either.
I spoke with Mark Kelly, the previous owner and he did not have this problem. The boat ran 92 with a 29P Mirage Plus, which I still have, but the boat really rolls on the port side. I have a small leak on the starboard steering ram which I am sending to Marine Machine for repair next week. I doubt that it is the cause, but I want it fixed prior to going further.
I am installing a new XZ drive next week if Treadwell sent it, once installed, I'll finish the steering and see if any of this corrects the rolling.
We may see you with or without the boat over the winter. I appreciate your offer to help.
Thank You,
Kirk
