24 w/Volvo Penta 496 Speed & Prop?
Hey Jo,
First of all thanks for the stickers. Came out first rate on the tow vehicle.
OK here it is. I finally put aside my ego and desires for a blown 700HP engine and bought a Volvo Penta 496 HO motor. I got a killer deal and wanted something with reliabilty. Anyway I ended up spending a ton for installation. Jo/Pepe, a 496 barely fits with a TRS and Merc tranny. I mean just barely. Anyway with a 23 labbed 3-blade I am slammin the rev limiter. I have already broken the engine in with about 12 hours and 3 oil changes. So its about where I think it should be. I am thinking of another prop. I will be installing a GIL dry exhaust system shortly. I know this will add a little more HP. Any ideas on the ideal prop to purchase. I have tried 4-blades in the past but the hull seems to like the 3-blades. I know the TRS is a little more heavier but I was thinking maybe a 26 or maybe even a 27? Have you had any of the older 24' boats w/TRS put in the newer 496HO? Thanks for all imput.
In a side note I will be posting pics soon and will be for sale as I want to step up to the 28 w/twin small blocks or lager singel. I just missed out on the 28 w/ small blocks for sale. I guess it was a total redo. Damn shame. Anyway thanks again.

I also have the TRS and have been using a labbed bravo 1 prop with great results. The 3 blades are a little faster on top but I feel the bravo1 is a better all around prop, Quick to plane and really good mid range. i have a hp500 carb. Your boat will easily turn a 24 bravo1 and probably a 26 if you have the 1.5:1 TRS otherwise the mirage 25 would also be a good choice. What is the rev limit on the volvo 496HO? Good luck
