28 Update
Have all the small bugs worked out with my 28 I purchased this summer in California. As I kind of figured, It appears to be putting out around 425hp not 525-580HP. Had the carb blueprinted and
had an excellent mechanic go over the boat. The good news is the motor has good compression and leak down #s.
Probably not the perfect combination of cam/heads/pistons.
Looks like I'll be steppping up in power this winter to a naturally aspirated 572
with 730hp.
Hydraulic steering and a larger drive will
also be in order.
I will be selling my 509 soon with only 20 hours use so if anyone is interested let me know. I decided even if the motor put out 580hp, I was looking for more and why go half way if it has to come out.

Glad to hear some progress is coming along
Who are you going to get to build the new motor?
730hp in that hull will be a screamer
\
Have you talked to Jo much about which direction you want to go?

105mph,
Have spoken with Jo several times about
my engine, drive and steering. As always he has been a great help. Looks like the larger drive and full hydraulic will be a must with a 572.
Gary Grimes in Atlanta has already built and dynoed the engine. Gary has an extensive marine background and does outstanding work. He builds custom engines and rigs anything you can imagine. The 572/700 he builds has the same internals as his 572/1100 with a blower.
My 509 is still in the boat now and will come out after the first of the year or earlier if needed.
I will sell it for $5500 for a quick sale.
Thats for the complete engine, less accessories, Holley 830 marine carb just blueprinted, Billet MSD distributor. 10qt oil pan, Edelbrock
aluminum heads and intake as well.
Imco valve covers, intake and exhaust risers are all powder coated purple.
The exhaust is EMI Thunder with stainless pipes that extend through the hull. $1500 for the complete exhaust. There are pictures in "Found my boat thread" or email me at [email protected]
