Lake Norman Poker Run "APRA" September 08
I spoke to POKER RUNS AMERICA at the Miami Show and I was surprised to see a Lake Norman run on the calander. Not sure the date has been set yet, but if anyone is involved in the planning, please post info when it becomes available. Smith Mountain Lake has a Labor Day event as well as a wine fest late in September...so as long as it avoids those dates, the crew from SML will probably attend.

David:
Thankyou for your recent e-mails regarding your Association's Lake Norman Poker Run which has been running for several years I understand. We were not aware of this until our Editor, Eric Colby wrote the story for Poker Runs America magazine which just appeared in out latest issue. You sure had an incredible event from all accounts!
We had been approached early this past year by some of our poker run customers to hold an event on Lake Norman as they felt it could be an ideal location for a poker run. However, they did not inform us, if in fact they were aware, of your run already in existence. It is not our practice to establish new events where events already occur, unless the area is sufficiently large enough to support substantial growth.
When we heard about your existing event, we immediately cancelled plans for our event this year knowing that the Lake Norman area would not fit any expansion criteria at this time. We certainly apologize for any mis-understanding that the announcement of our potential event may have caused with your association or its members.
In one of your subsequent phone messages to us, you mentioned that you wanted to discuss possibilities of Poker Runs America joining you in some way for your Lake Norman event. We are always interested in pursuing such possibilities in the interests of our poker run customers and Poker Runs America magazine.
Please call me at your convenience on my cell at (416) 702-4316 to discuss the possibilities.
Please also note that our current issue (Vol. 10, # 10) of Poker Runs America lists in the Calendar on Page 95:
July 19, 2008
Velocity Owners Nascar Weekend, Lake Norman, NC

If any corrections to the above are required, please send them to the attention of Sheryl MacKey, Poker Run Co-Ordinator,

Thanks again David. Hope to see you at our Miami Boat Show APRA (American Poker Runs Association) Safety Summit to be held in the Convention Center, 8:00 AM, Friday, February 15, 2008, and at our Miami Boat Show Poker Run Bash on that same Friday night at the Biscayne Marriott Hotel where we crown the World Champion Poker Runner from all the winners of every event in 2007 (have you sent us the details of your Lake Norman winner yet???).
Best regards,

If it's a high rollers event, I won't even get my boat wet. My club will stay at SML. We're cheap like that! $10000 for a poker run is just wrong. If I had $10000 to piss away I'd be in Vegas. Change it to a regular PR & we'll be there... Either that or we'll all climb abord Sonny's Spectra...and go for a ride!

somebody say VEGAS?
10k is just crazy, for that money i sure could have 1 hell of a birthday party and invite a few friends,
but if Sonny wants to flip the bill i quess we could ride with him :
