Clinch Marina had a train ride for the kids. It was part of the zoo's
attractions. This was in Traverse City. I think it is all closed up
now. At least that's what I remember from a few years ago. Money
issues.

Awsome idea for another run up there. Just my .02... I would perfer that there be a month or so between Boyne and this run. Kinda like getting a gallon of icecream and eating it all in one sitting. Its taste good, but it's all over so fast and nothing left for the rest of the week. lol

Thanks....I know Greilickville has a really nice lauch ramp, but parking for trucks with big trailers can be a very BIG problem in their parking lot. Is the launch ramp at West Bay comparable to Greilickville's launch? How long of a boat can be launched at West Bay's launching ramp? Thanks

I never launch my boat in that area. I always come across the lake
from Ellison Bay, WI. However I am with my Uncle when he launches
the fish boat. We have used Clinch many times but it is only good
for smaller boats. We have been using a launch that is north and
west of Clinch but I am not sure of the name. I will send my Uncle
an email to find out which launch we have been using. We fish the
mouth of the Boardman so it did not make sense to me to launch
anywhere other than Clinch, but I learned a long time ago not to
question my Uncle's logic.

KAAMA - I am not sure what you are asking about. The boat ramp
that my Uncle and I use is technically called the Elmwood Township
boat ramp. Centerpointe Marina I believe is in the same complex but
separate - private/public - different townships - I don't know. If you
look at the satellite view of the link I posted you will see what I mean.
The phone number for the boat ramp at Elmwood Township is:
231-946-5463. I have seen many large boats parked in the lot but
the tow vehicle was not attached. Centerpointe looks to be the north
part of the harbor. The satellite view seems to show a separate
ramp at the northeast corner of Centerpointe.

That's okay, I am going to do a little RECON mission this winter and check it out for myself just so I can get a visual perspective before I drag my boat into an unknown situation....especially if it is conjested. I think the Poker Run sounds like a fun idea and I am looking forward to it.

We are very glad to hear that you guys may come up for this event. We had a Poker Run Board meeting this evening. Centerpointe has not worked out (they sold most of their slips as seasonals and can't commit to our event now) so we have moved the base location to Clinch Marina - which is the City marina (where the little train is at). Very easy walk to downtown from there - literally across the road from downtown. Poker Run of course is still in West Bay. Trying to keep the cost down and working on budget/website/etc. Our first choice is to have the after party/reception at the Top of the Park (Park Place) - awesome view from up there and walking distance back to boats - stay tuned.... We do have a block of slips held for us at Clinch Marina but will be limited - this is the hardest part of doing a run in Traverse City! We also have about 12 additional spots at Centerpointe that we can utilize as overflow if needed - located next to the Elmwood launch site, there is also Elmwood Marina that is township owned that has reservable slips but they haven't allowed reservations yet to my knowledge. FYI - Elmwood Marina/Launch is within the same enclosed area/wall as Centerpointe. Elmwood launchsite is one of the best in the area, wide, paved, large docks...absolutely no problem to launch large boats - parking lot is large and fills up on busy weekends but they have overflow parking across the street. Captains meeting will be held in the boaters pavillion at Clinch Marina Saturday morning - via water, its less than a 5 minute ride from Elmwood to Clinch. We will help everyone out as best as we can with whatever you need - we want everyone to have a great time! The launch at Clinch is only good for smaller boats...I wouldnt launch anything larger than a 28' there, Elmwood is your best location, I have a 38' Formula and launch there several times a week in the summer, sometimes by myself and its no problem. Our website should be up in about a month, if you would like to be added to our email list and/or would like any info prior to that or questions, feel free to email me at "[email protected]"

Its FINALLY coming together and we are all very pumped up about it and have had GREAT response! Would love to have all of you join us for the event! The earlier you can get signed up, the better we can help get you in a slip. For those of you that don't need a slip and want to just be in for the day, we can help with hotel recommendations - its prime tourism season here in July so sooner is better before the hotels are sold out!
