Brian,

I've never launched from there but the 1 good thing that I know is the water level is up. You can check the current status online http://www.smithmountainlakelevel.com/SMLLevelWeb.exe which should help regardless which ramp you use.

Worst case you could lauch at the state park, which is real close by land so it's a short ride in the truck. It should be ok as they just pulled and launched our houseboat which is 40+ ft off a big trailer no problem.

From what I understand there are 2 ramps at Mariners. 1 by the golf course which is steep but not really enough room to turn around a big boat. The 2nd ramp by the point is longer but at a shallower angle.

Dre

Is it too late to register? Anyone know how far Mariners is from Fredericksburg VA? Hows the trailer ride there?

I don't believe it's too late. Call Marshall Prillaman cell 540-761-5147. I spoke with him yesterday to ask about getting some guests registered to ride with us and he said no problem.

It is not to late to register. Marshall is going to close off entry by wednesday May 19th.

The ramps that I recommend at Mariners are in a location in an area called Mariners Way. They have two ramps there and with the water up they will be fine for any boat. I do not suggest the single ramp. I will post a map of Mariners soon on this location or go to marinerslanding .com for a layout.

I've been told its "OK" and "It sucks" by different folks.

Those of us with step bottom boats need enough water to float up off the trailer several inches before we can launch. I don't want to burn a bunch of time trying to find a good ramp; nor do I want to tear anything up.
yes 2 ramps, i will be going there this friday to check out the ramps and help with dock assignments, we are at full pond so that should make things better, i will let everyone know what ramp will better for there setup.
