Default More Reminders

Just a few more reminders for the Poker Run Teams

- The pool will be open at Palm Beach Willie's (Lunch Stop) so don't forget to bring your bathing suit.

- There is a VIP/Racer/Poker Run pre party at Catamarans Restaurant on Friday from 7p-9p. We will also be taking registrations for those teams that are waiting until the last minute. If you are signing up in Solomons please remember to bring a copy of your insurance declaration page with you if we do not already have it on file.

- We are going to have our helicopter fly the route across the bay to Taylor's Island and back to check for any debris prior to boats departing the marina. All of the reports that we have been getting are saying it is improving daily.

- Slips are being offered to all poker run teams at the Solomons Yachting Center (Starting location) for $1.90/foot. Reservations can be made by calling the marina at 410-326-2401.

Looking forward to seeing everyone for a great weekend!!!

Default Thank You

I would like to thank all of the poker run teams that braved the dreary weather on Saturday to attend this year’s event. A total of 18 teams arrived at the Solomons Yachting center and prepared for a great day of boating on the Chesapeake Bay.

All of the teams made it safely to our lunch stop (some a little late) at Palm Beach Willie’s in Taylor’s Island for an awesome spread that included Seafood Lasagna, Willie’s Seafood Stew and beef stir-fry. As is expected with the Offshore Hero Poker Run, the food was great and no-one left hungry.

After two card stops at the Tiki Bar and Stoney’s Seafood house the teams headed up St. Leonard’s Creek (all but one at the new 35 knot day time speed limit) to the finale party with Steve Stanley and his crew at Vera’s White Sands. The beach party was moved indoors due to the weather but the party went on without a hitch and the band rocked for hours.

The poker hands were also played and it was a day that a few would take it all. All three of the winning poker hands came from the Lilly Edition Fountain with Brit taking 1st and 3rd. There were also several raffle items including a Go Pro HD camera and four fall lift services provided by Premier Boats lifts, a $500 gift certificate provided by Diamond Cutters of Maryland in Edgewater and a $250 gift certificate good for service at Lilly Sport Boats. Kyle Humphrey was the lucky winner of all three of the big raffle items much to the surprise of everyone in attendance.

I would also like to thank all of the sponsors of this year’s event including Vera’s White Sands Beach Club, Stoney’s Seafood House, The Tiki Bar, Palm Beach Willie’s, Imax Images, Lilly Sport Boats, Triton Communications, Solomons Yachting Center, Premier Boat Lifts, Harry & Sons Contracting and Diamond Cutters of Maryland.

Bruce from IMAX Images has several of the photos up on his webiste here and every boat entered in the run will receive an 8X10 photo courtesy of IMAX Images.

We are already making plans for the 2012 Offshore Hero Poker Run and as we finalize the details I will get them out. Have a safe remainder of the Summer and hope to see everyone next year.
