I just asked 343 members of NYFD and 23 members of NYPD to clear a path for us.This is not a poker run or a fun run,it a way to pay our respects if we have to run 35 going down to the city so be it.

I may sound like a d!ck by say this but anyone worried about debris/weather has obviously lost focus on the idea of this event. I know I have a sh!tty boat compared to most but I'll row if I have to. Does everyone forget what conditions the first responders worked/perished in? If there's debris, take it slow. If the weather is crap, deal with it. We aren't out there for the fireworks, we are out there for the rememberace of 3000 people, many of which put theirs lives on the line for people who were running out, not in. That to me negates any possible damage my boat may get.

Sorry for the rant, I take things personal with regards to memorial events. --George--

I understand George, but if my boat and I are at the bottom of the Hudson I won't be able to pay any respects to anyone ever.

I dug the 4x6 flag out of the attic last night. Gonna make up something to attach it to the ski pole tonight or tomorrow. I'm OK with going down at 11. If that time is locked in Anthony let us know so I can tell the guys who are riding with me.

John, I agree 100%, the last thing I want is more casualties/damage. My statement isn't so people do 100mph, it's the fact that debris/weather shouldn't prevent you from getting there at all.

John - I'm still in to join you on Sunday - just let me know what time.
Personally, I think the earlier start would be better if we did't plan to hang out with the larger group for the afternoon.
Put it this way.....I remember where and what I was doing 10 years ago when it happened. To say I was there with you guys on the Hudson for the 10 year memorial during the 2 minutes of silence would be awesome.
Hopefully by the next one, I'll have upgraded one of the boats to be able to run with you all.

Kris

(how did I end up only posting today after joining 4 yrs ago?)

I think you're right Kris. You and I can go with the original plan, everyone else can do what they feel works for them. I'll plan on meeting you at the ramp at the park at 7am.

Attached is the safety zone for the race... the Harbor will be closed 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM

Not sure if the notice to mariners has been posted for the NYC area and other closures that will be happening...

After seeing this closure chart, it proves of what I was told by fellow boaters that this is not the race to try and view by boat. Due to the fact that we would be at the end of the race course and only see the boats in the turn for a split second.
