dont call it a sanctioned run... if it just so happens a bunch of guys show up and want to donate 100 bucks to the club so be it. hire a band for entertainment. have a couple hundred payout for best hand. kick a couple bucks for a charity and put the rest towards the club. i bet the insurance for a "boat show" is alot less than a poker run. if a group of guys want to run their boats for lunch at the same time its out of your control. no need to spend money on laser light shows and smoke machines. keep it simple and dont reinvent the wheel. if someone wants a t-shirt SELL them one. as far as people bringing their own beer and snacks, im sure that weekend is still the most profitable for the business owners in the area. ive been down there multiple weekends in the summer and you could hear a mouse fart in the bar and resturants. wine tasters dont pack the bars like boaters do

All i can say is that after attending every run from year 1 to last year, I think all the people that was involved in making this run happen did one hell of a great job. I am very appreciative of all there efforts and time spent year in and out to make this a great run and we all know time is hard to come by in life. Our group from williamsport pa have meant alot of great people and made alot of freinds up there and although we will miss it we will not forget all the great memmories and good times. So Thanks to all that was involved in the pirates run from year one to last years run it was a great ride.

New fountain guy, enough with the axx kixxing of the cow. I think people on this thread just wanted the poker run to happen. Sorry Dick Clark dropped the ball early and blamed it on no help. Perhaps if planning the run was to difficult they should just merge back with the ROPA and then maybe the Eagle Creek Run could take place along with the Seneca lake run in June. People on the OSO forums love the sport, and do support poker runs in there area or Region. Just because they drink some beers in the parking lot or tale gate does not mean they don't support the business that hosts the event. That is just a ignorant statement. Not everyone has a chance to be a second or third or even a forth generation business owner and can spend money like its free. So with that being said, why don't you think about how you can put a event on instead of telling us how many poker runs dropped the ball in 2013. If you need help or advise on how to do this you may call Stu Jones as he has made a business out of fans like us.

WOW! Ultimate cat, you want to hop off your soap box? I do my part at these events, I pay for my boat, all my passenger, a room. I drink beer at the host bar and tip very well. One off my businesses usually donate addition money to the charity and if I was to win the hand I would give 100% of the dough to the charity.
What I don't do is ***** and moan about how an event is run, or not run. I have the a ton of respect for the people who put these runs on and Im very thankful that they do it. I didnt say that anybody dropped the ball, just that two run are not running and as passionate boaters we need to think about why they aren't running. Are you doing your part to help our hobby continue? Remember, if its not worth it for the restaurant, bar, marinas, etc.,then we will not be welcome next year.
And talk about ignorant statements, read your post.
