We haven't determined the price yet. The idea is conceptual at this point. We want to make sure that we get people there and that everyone has a great time. If you have an idea of what a "reasonable" fee would be pls say so. It stands to reason that what Boyne is charging and how they structure the price would be similar to what we would do, but that remains to be seen.

Forget the price for now gentlemen: Let's concentrate on if and when this event should take place : the money usually figures itself out...

Don't forget about hot boat weekend on hardy dam. Its the weekend after labor day. A lot of performance boats go there for the weekend.

What we need is a run for the smaller boats. There are tons of people in this area that are 30' or less that would love to do a run. I bet if you had a smaller class with a smaller entry fee you would get a lot more boats. You are already up against Boyne, Chicago, and the runs that are over in the St.Clair area for the big boys. Do something to include the smaller boats or a seperate run for them on Friday and then a run for the big boys on Saturday.

I am thinking an early august date would be best as to not conflict with other regional events in late august/early September.

Northern Illinois Offshore Club (NIOC) will be having their annual Thunder Run out of Winthrop harbor on 7/18-19. Since there are so few runs on Lake Michigan it would nice to avoid conflict. Keep us posted as your event develops.

I agree with maybe a shorter run so smaller boats could run may help your attendance as we all know that lake Michigan can be a nasty b!tch. Maybe scratch the Douglas and Saugatuck stops and keep the entry fee manageable for the first year or 2 until you get the run established. Early august is no good unless its the weekend of the 9th. Coast Guard festival is always the first weekend and boat traffic is crazy.

Screw Grand Haven. They treat performance boat guys like $hit. Although the night life in GH is great.

Either way count me in.
