Well its 6:30 pm Sat. and Im glad Im landlocked. Very windy with gusts to 40 and rain. We need another date for this run. This means we only had one poker run all year.

Obnoxious, I feel your pain..........I took a whole weeks vacation to ready my boat and crew for this run, then I saw this Cat. 4 last week while water testing the boat and I had a gut feeling it was going to be trouble. We need a new date for this. One year from now is a long time. Sponsors are already in place i would think just new dates would be all thats needed.

Last year we had a "New Year's Day" Fun Run, maybe we should change it to a Poker Run. Just a thought. Might have to wear long sleeves. Hotel rates would be higher though, height of "tourist season".

I also think we should go back to the original "July 4th Poker Run". My gut feeling is that if that format would have been followed this past "Fourth", the run would not have been cancelled. The OPBA/OSS poker run that was to coincide with the OSS Races drew too much attention from the "green weenies" who were throwing a hissy fit about the races in Tampa Bay, which ultimately caused the cancellation of the Poker Run in order for the races to be run. My guess is that if we'd run the original July 4th Poker Run as usual, that run would not have been canceled. Being part of the OSS was a great idea, but no one could have predicted the backlash of the "weenie fit".

I feel for Ron and Michelle Long who have put SO MUCH EFFORT into both these events only to watch them both have to be cancelled. Thanks for your efforts we all appreciate it.

Guys,

We have to set a new date soon for this run. Its a great run and so many people look forward to it all year. I ran it for the first time last year. Only made the second stop before scattering a drive all over the waterway. Point being I still had a great time for the rest of the weekend. Me and other locals have been preparing for this run for some time.
If their is any possibility for a new date please let us know.
