Putting the Weight on after Dyno Results Reviewed

In the one race OL had the 500 lbs added just before the race. It skewed the CG made the boat run on the forward step causing air to be sucked into the water pickups so they couldn't even go full throttle without overheating the engines... The 500 lbs was one thing but they weren't given the time to move the weight to find out where it needed to be in the boat.
Seems like they got a raw deal to me...
this was first hand info given to me by Joe...

It will be interesting to see what the OL dyno's at as they are running the 700 Merc with a 662 badge for pratical purposes.
They also get to run blower motors whereas others are naturally aspirated which makes a big difference in torque.
Are these boats dyno'd after the race or before? A software flash will change the power level in a matter of seconds.
Maybe they should put penalties on torque figures also?

Do you know this to be fact or are you guessing ?

So despite our Ilmors hitting the exact numbers we had declared at the start of our P1 season on the P1 dyno test, in front of myself, Steve Lydon - P1's Sporting Director - and their TTC consultant, they went away, scratched their heads, acknowledged privately that we were quicker than they'd calculated,
Did you state your engines only produced 625 hp at the start of the season ?
Also, from your above statement, the "Sporting Director and the TTC consultant went away, scratched their heads, acknowledged privately that we were quicker than they'd calculated,"
If these 2 people had a private conversation away from you and anyone else, then how is it you knew what they had said ?

Paul Fiore and I get on real well over here in Europe. I think we respect each other's competitive ambitions. Until they had their engine shut down in Travemunde, we were looking at having one helluva race with them. Hopefully that can be arranged for Cowes next weekend.
Oh they haven't had their engines sealed ... yet!!!

Powerboat P1 Newsletter 7:
"Engines ? Every engine in every boat in P1 has been sealed in several places by the scrutineers, and all engine numbers have been recorded.
This means that the scrutineers can quickly determine whether engines have been opened or changed.
Teams are reminded that you must inform the scrutineers before changing components or engines, otherwise they risk having points deducted, in accordance with the Rules."

If you didn't know the difference between the two, here is a link for a little reading:

522 kw vs 494 kw each.

One can only hope they are not running 700's. Sharkey have you ever seen a 662?
Chris probably meant that they have not been checked, dyno'd.
But, im sure they will be next!

Only on paper.
The EU662SCi falls under the strictest emission guidelines in the world.
"EU662SCi is essentially a DETUNED HP700SCi.
The EU662SCi runs lower boost and has a larger intercooler, as well as a less aggressive camshaft. Its computer module was mapped accordingly."
So from what I see is that it wasn't about making 700hp, it was about making 662hp that could meet the EU emission standards.
I guess you can say that not only does Outerlimits run mean, but it runs CLEAN too!
At least there is 2 major components (a less aggressive camshaft and a different PCM)) that cannot be taken out of the equation without being noticed. Unlike the possibility of computer connections being left unsealed and accessible for possible programming changes.
That issue is soon to be addressed.
I'm not saying that anyone is doing that, but it is an open port that needs to be closed to elliminate any chance of changes being made to the engines mapping being made before and after a race.

Apparently I know EXACTLY as much about it as you do.
The facts from the people, whom are the people that know, stated here on OSO that the engines made 624 hp just as they had predicted.
While I am not a fan of Fountain, I am a fan of competition and sportsmanship. The Fountain team seems to have brought that from their race team to this forum.

They are not running the HP700SCi, they are running the EU662SCi .

Mercury was found guilty of this same thing last year with their 1075 engines in class 1 racing.
A sticker is a sticker, however, the dyno results will tell the tale.
Just a little devils advocate here to add some balance.
