Bob,
I don't know about the extension box, but I would be carefull with the shortie. The PQ "X" dimension is already pretty high. I ended up adding a 1" drive spacer to dial my boat in.

Re: Imco shorty
Jon,Did you add the spacer to the shortie or the stock bravo? My bravo had a spacer in it and the boat leaned so bad to the left,(torque steer)I had to drag a left tab to keep it straight.Took it out and the lean went away.Boat ran the same mph and was safer to run at speed.Talked to Mark at PQ today;he said PQ is pretty conservative with X.My prop shaft is 5.5 to 5.75 inches below the bottom. He also said the twin's had great success with the shorties but no data on the singles. Thanks,BOB

Bob,
I added the spacer to the Bravo. My prop shaft was 4.25". My slip factor was off the charts. I picked up 5 mph with the spacer and stepped up to a 26 pitch prop.

Re: Imco shorty
What year is your 280?Mark at PQ said they haven't changed the hull is years.4.25 is up there. My plan is a 2" shorty, then space it down 1".That should put it at 4.5 -4.75 with a five blade prop.I can borrow a shortie. After I try it,I'll get back to you. Thanks for your help. You must have been very happy with a 5 mph gain!! Bob,
I have a 2000. PQ did some playing around with the "X" a few years ago. It's amazimg how much difference 1" can make in the drive height. It took me a while, but I got the boat dialed in just right.
I think I talked to you last year - didn't you punch out your engine to a 540?
Jon
