Engine CO 454, Will do if we decide. The way it looks now were going to keep the 26. With one heading to college in the next5 years and two more behind him I need to start watching my pennies a bit more than I have.

Mikeroy,
I know you are looking for a 290. They are great boats. I think you should also consider the 300 Revenge (I just so happen to have one for sale!!). It has a twin step bottom which makes it faster with the same power as the 290. Mine also has 496 MAG HO motor's. These are closed water cooling which help make more consistent horsepower over different temperatures. Easy to winterize!
Take a look at the classifieds........
Whatever you do, take the boat you are considering for a good ride. Not just around the harbor. You cannot go wrong with a PowerQuest.
Good luck!
Dave

My 91 with 502s (390 HP) with just me and a light load of fule (around 1/4) can get 73 on GPS. Ours does have the weekend package. I think 80 would be a bit of a reach with the boat you are looking at.

I test drove a couple last year with twin 330's and 68 seemed to be the magic number. The thing I noticed with he twins is that unlike a single the twins get there in a hurry and when you mash the throttles you know it. Very nice boat with good lines.

I looked at the 98 at Gordy's last year, the boat has had a hard life. The fiberglass has lots of marks all over. They pulled the engines and replaced the couplers, gimbles etc. It need a ton of work to make it nice. The all white 97 in Harrison twp is nicer but not by much.

Mike if you are looking at boats consider the 34 vyper, much better size and power that can handle the big lake chop much better than the 29, I am just south of detroit and mine is kept indoors at my home if you are interested in seeing a very nice 34 Vyper with 500 HP's and loaded in 10 + condition.

thanks for the advice guys i dont think a boat will be in my future now that gas prices have gotten out of hand, which also is the reason i've been laid off.
