Default 260 Legend SX Putting the mufflers back in

Hey guys, I have a '98 260 Legend SX with a 454 MPI. It has thru hull exhaust, but no mufflers right now, just 4" hose out the back. I am sick of being pulled over in Grand Haven and want to put the mufflers in it. When I bought the boat, the guy gave me Corsa Quick and Quiet mufflers. How much speed am I going to loose? Top speed right now is only 56 on GPS and I don't want to go any slower. I need to work on the prop as it has a few dings in it (23P Mirage +)

Any ideas how much I will loose with the mufflers?

Thanks,
Eric

I highly doubt you will loose anything more then 2hp. IF EVEN that.

I took the mufflers off my PQ 270 and put on straight tips with silent choice. I saw no difference in mph and was not expecting any. You should still see 56 mph with mufflers. If you use silent choice and route through the prop you might lose 100-200 rpms and 1 mph.

When you have Q&Q or silent choice you don't have as much backpressure as just transom mounted silencers because the exhaust has 2 exits, thru hub & muffler!

Default Thanks!

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I put the mufflers back in and actually hit my top GPS speed to date. Low on fuel, perfect chop. I think it actually sounds better now, little more low end rumble, but not terribly loud.
