Default Painting your PQ

I found a thread that asked if painting your PQ would affect the retail value so I posted a few pic's there. I didn't see anyone that actually painted their PQ so I thought I would share a few pics of mine. I had it painted in the spring of 2020. It is done in automotive paint. It may have something in it for a marine application but not sure. Before you say it won't last, he painted another boat for me and I never had any problems. I came up with the layout which is both simple and I hope much more timeless than what came on it from PQ. It took me a month and several different layouts to come up with this layout and then several more weeks after that before I decided that I liked it every time I looked at it. Originally it was going to be red with gray or silver. Last minute went with the red white and blue. I never gave it a thought if painting it would adversely affect resale. I knew that I hated the stock colors and layout . If you've done some paintwork to yours lets see it. FYI mine is a 95 Enticer.

Yes he does. I've had them do a lot of work for me over the years. Thanks for your comment.

I agree. I was thinking I would get the rattle cans out and go white. Thanks for your comment.

Why would anyone say painting lowers the value? These are boats, not number matching 63 vettes.

Pretty much all PQs after about '99 were painted, as far as the graphics. Most were not custom, at all, having been decided on out of a catalog, I'd presume.

From my perspective, painting a boat, assuming it wasn't a raging fustercluck of a paint job, only decreases its value to a prospective buyer who doesn't like the specific graphics that were done, and that is going to be hard to avoid, given that is a future problem.

Paint it how you like it. It's your boat. Worry about resale down the road. If I had the cajones, I'd get the orbital out, strip the painted graphics off ours and leave it minimalist white. One dick's opinion.....

Thanks. Brad.
