Shockwave,
What the graph does'nt show is the difference the 15 5/8 dia.
made the way the boat carried in the 3 to 4 thousand rpm range, all the difference in the world. Of course I cruise @ about 2900 to 3000 90% of the time.
That is why it really depends how you use the boat and this is only one boat and they all handle differently.

Well I ordered a maximus 26p off ebay got it for 450 so ill give it a shot see what happens? I too run alot in the 2900 to 3900 range. I wanted to get the short tube but didnt want to see if I could get a $2000 prop to work. if this work ill take it into a machine shop and have the tube shortend? hope that will work????? any idea if you can do that?

At $450 it surely can not be new. I see this often. If the performance numbers seemed skewed (once run), we may need to determine what you truely have. Is the prop 15 5/8" diameter? Has the prop ever been repaired? Is the prop in a new Mercury box? Just curious.

You would be looking at a $1100 prop from us (without the diffuser) not a $2000 prop.

We can cut the tube to the best pre-determined length for $45.

Best of luck.

Every application including identical applications can be different.
I often tell owners the P5X is a great 5blade propeller right out of the box. The Maximus is incredible performer when Labbed to a specific recipe for the given application post a base line run. The P5X does not respond as much to Lab work because there isn't as much to work with. There are improvement to be had but on a smaller scale. Therefore, if you wish to spend less and recieve 5 blade performance, the P5X may be the best selection. However, if you want all you can get out of 5 blade Bravo 1 drive performance, the Labbed Maximus is more often the better number getter.

I currently have 2 customers testing P5X's and their slip numbers are still in the 20% ranges. Here is a situation the larger Maximus diameter of 5/8" could be the band aid required. Of course, "X" dimention is the topic of discussion.

Yes it is used and i knew that when i bought it. the 2k came from merc. web site for price. i was running a rev 4 23p. at 90 deg. out i would run 4800 rpm at 66.6 GPS. wife and 2 kids with me 50 deg out on salt water ran 5050 at 70 to 71 not sure no GPS just the wife and I. i did get to the rev. limiter on that run. after header two weeks ago 60 deg out half tank fuel wife and two boys got 5050 rpm 64 to 67 mph no gps. I did find some thing at the base of all the fins when i got home. at the base there were several what looked like scratches about a 16th inch apart say 15 to 20 on ever fin running from tube to tip direction.(ranging from say and inch and a half to three quarters) when you rub your finger along them you can feel everone of them as if there raised up a little. could those be stress cracks, or have you seen anything like that Brett? My x is 1 1/2 to 2" according to shockwave and i will confirm that soon. the plan is to run this saturday if the weather hold out. i will let you know what i find out. Thanks again for the help. yes it is 15 5/8 it also doesnt appear to have been fixed or alterded in any way it looks just like the stock prop out of the box i have stitting next to it.
