29 outlaw faster with......
I have a 29' Baja outlaw w/ 1" shortened Imco drives. Do you suppose it would be faster up top with 3 blade wheels? I currently run 4 blade labbed bravo 1 26s behind 454 mag mpi's (385 Hp)

It is quite possible that you could be faster with a 3B propeller but you will sacrifice some handleingfor that extra 1.5 knots. The only true way to find out is to run one. Safe Testing.

Raising drives on Owtlaws can be a detrimental proposition. The Baja's like their X's conservative. If your slip #'s are quite low with the 4bl's, you will most likely see a slight speed rise at WOT rpm's with a 3 blade.

Well we would need to look into why your slip numbers are high. Drive height would be looked at as well as the Make and condition of the propeller you are running.

What if your slip numbers don't add up to the MPH you are seeing? Julie and I talked about this at lenght yesterday. My slip numbers are something like 8%, right Julie? What is going on. I really don't think it is GPS spikes. I am seeing exactally what the previous owner said I would see and even talked to him today just to confirm what I thought I was told was corrrect.

If your slip is 8% with the 4BL and the shorty case, you will see a top end speed increase with a 3 Bl Mirage plus.
This is if you run the same or lighter loads with a equaly adjusted propeller finish.

It could be as much as 4mph. I would guess more like 2-3mph.
Really, running the propeller is the only way to know.

If it helps: I have a 29 with 496 Mags (not HO). The boat came with 26 4 bl. Mirage Plus. For kicks I purchased a set of 27 P 3 bl. and had Mercury Racing do a Lab Job. I talked directly with the late Dennis C. about what I needed and Bammo 3.8 mph increase on GPS. You do lose a little handling, but who cares Baja's float like a Tug boat anyway
