Default 97 KevlarTopgun prop issues!

We installed 2 1/2" spacers on our new 1.35 ratio shorty Max Machine Worx drives and she likes it better than the 2" shorties.
We turned up the wick on new motors this week end 800+ hp with 7lbs of boost 5800 rev limit in 100 degree crummy hot air, but could still only turn 32 bravo 4 blades to 4300 rpms or so @ 82.5 gpsmph .
We then tried a pair of bravo 30s got the same mph but 5100rpms on port motor and 5500rpms on the starboard motor, I guess we have a miss matched pair of Bravos both stamped at 30p.
This boat with stock 600hp motors 1.36 ratios, 26- 4 blade Bravos ran 82gps @ 5400rpms fully loaded in good air every day of the week.
Should we maybe try a pair of Hydro 4 or 5 Blades to get more stern lift? , the Bravos seem to all lift her light bow to the sky, I would like to see low 90s
. Now I still have know idea of what pitch she will need.
I am now waiting to borrow a pair of 28 Bravos that we tried a few weeks back prior to the new drive and motor break in just to get some kind of base line, this is perplexing to say the least!

Interesting..

My 700 chiefs on a 97 kevlar gun turned 28's at 5250 and 80 MPH. 1.50 to 1 ratios.

Let us know how your testing with the 28's go.

Make sure to find out if they have been reworked or repaired anywhere else. If they are box stock they should give you a good baseline.

Some one must of had their hands on those 30's.

I have a set of 29'' 4blade hydros you could try. Are you on the northeast river? I think I met you in loyds creek?

Michael,
We are out of the North East ,thanks for the offer on the props.
We already have a set of 29 Hydros and 29 labbed Bravos coming on Fri and I hope we see some positive results.
Rudy our engine builder from Diamond Performance has now cranked our boost up to as he say's at least 900hp per side.
Man do these non stepped boats need a ton of power to fly!
We will be out from Fri night until at least Sun and we will hit Loyds Jellyfish and maybe even Red Eyes !

Thanks again for the offer! Glen

Glen Keep in mind when the straight V bottom with no steps ,pads or beaks ruled offshore racing a light weight 38'-41' hull topped out in the 90mph range. Your Cig may weigh a little more but she sure goes thru the big water

Those 29'' hydros are for sale if anyone has a need for them

If it does this with a couple different sets of props check the distributor module. If it is bad it will account for that much difference in RPM. My TG recently did the same thing until we changed the module.

The boat responded well to the spacers and requires way less tab and trim, she also really likes 29 Bravo 4 blades, planes right out and @ 4500rpms = 75 mph but we cant spin them past 5 grand both engines are close in rpm @ 83mph gps.
We new it would be real close but we thought we could re jet and use the 4 stock 700 Holley's off our 600scs on these new mills, there not cutting it.
After hooking up a vacuum gauge while on the run they run out of air way before our target 5600 or so rpm max hp mark with these cnc ported AFR heads, JE pistons, 7 lbs of boost and small Comp Cams roller cam set up, they fatten us up big time on top.
We are going to try a pair of 1000 cfm carbs on the starboard engine this week , It should get us where we need to be.
Was out on Gary's "Danger Zone" 36 Skater on Sat with detuned 900scs only 4 lbs of boost 4- 1050 Holley's @ 5000rpms we ran 125 mph gps, all I can say is what a thrill, man do you Cat guy's fly, Wow !
We will hopefully have some 90mph news very soon in our camp!

Glen I saw Gary in Danger zone go by Friday or saturday maybe you were in there. Those skaters are crazy fast! Jim + Jean of Tom cat are my friends, boy that thing flys.
Sounds like you are moving in the right direction, hopefully the bigger carbs will help Are you gonna have them on this weekend?
