I'm running a heavy single engine Searay, 27' 6000#'s with Procharged 500" bbc.
Now seeing 75mph (gps), w/4-blade B1 26p @ 5500 rpm.
I want to try a 5-blade and would like to know what someone else has experienced switching from 4 to five blades.
Who's prop is best ?
What have you experienced or heard from others.
Thanks

Neither is better.
Try whatever one you can get your hands on. The Hydro is usually better out of the box, but the maximus has more options, when labbed. The main reason is it's larger diameter. The hydro can't increase in diameter. You my find the bravo one works best.
See if you can try before you buy.

If your 26P is running at the appropriate RPM then you would need a 24P Hydro P5-X. This propeller will provide full lift and will be more efficent than your Bravo I. The Hydro typically runs better box stock when compared to that of the Maximus.

The boat determines which prop runs the best box stock. You can't make a blanket statement. The Maximus has a larger diameter in box stock which can work better on some boats.
We charge $950

I don't think you can say one prop is better than another. It all depends on the application. There are times when any of the 5 blade props on the market will out perform any of the others. It just depends on the set up and the boat. The key is to try as many props you can get your hands on and see what works best for you.
Another consideration is, to be fair to a prop you really need to dial the boat in around the prop. When we work with race teams a time comes when they have to commit to a prop and then start dialing the boat in around the props.
If you want a Maximus we'll sell it for $899.00. That includes an XR hub kit.

LFarr,
I have a few 5B props for testing but they only recently came out with the 23P and 24P 5B P5-X so I don't have any available to test. The cost for the Maximus is $899.00 and the cost of the P5-X is $999.00.
