Default Need to Get some prop work done!

O.K. guys and gals!

Just put the boat up for the winter and pulled the prop to have re-worked. Here's what I have.

1997 Powerquest 26 Legend (non step)
454 Mag EFI with Bravo 1 drive

Currently spinning a stock Mirage Plus 23p at 4800 WOT and seeing 59 mph with half a tank of gas and a lot of room to run.

57mph comes pretty easy, after that is slow going.

Out of the hole is good even with up to 10 people.

Cruise is good as well.

Really overall looking for more on top end. I've been told by other guys with the same boat they see 62 mph on gps. But we all know how that goes.

I did try a 21 mirage plus before I put it away but due to poor conditions on the lake was not able to achieve top speed. It did feel good and strong!

So whats your thoughts?? And cost??

Would like to see 70 mph??? Just kidding! Or am I ??

to get 70, you need a whipple. no prop by itself is going to get you there.

I was only giving the prop guys a hard time. I'm sure they get serious request for results like that often. 2-3 would be an expected gain. But never apposed to more!

You have 16% slip with the 23P Mirage Plus. This seems a little high to me. I would like to see you at a max of 14%. Additionally I would llike to see you run at 4950 RPM at WOT. Might be able to find a couple but 70 MPH Alrighty then! Great goal but you will need al ittle boost to get you there! Oh Dustin????????????

I would really like to see you in a 4B Bravo I propeller. They do work quite well on the Powerquest boats. I would liek to think that you slip will drop down a bit if you ran a 22P stock prop. Has your Mirage Plus been worked by a propeller company or myself? Maybe we can do something to improve the slip, not sure.

Julie, I bought a 22p Bravo 1 lab finished and the boat really didn't like it, Gave a little to much lift in the rear, which made the boat feel real loose. I'm not sure if maybe a stock 22 would have been better? Or if I should just stay with the mirage plus. I've yet to see or talk with anyone else with the same boat running anything but a mirage plus. The boat does have rockers on he bottom which may be the cause of the loose feeling.

The 4th blade is giing you the stern lift. If you are uncomfortable with the lift and your slip goes up then I would definately recommend the Mirage Plus propellers for your application.

So what needs to be done?? Looking at turning it into a 22p? Do you reshape the ears, add or take out any cup?

What are we talking price wise?? By the way it is a solid hub if that makes any difference?

We can take .75 to 1 inch of pitchh out of her and get the RPM up, or lab finishing may be another option. Call me and we can discuss your options.
