Mirage Plus 23 vs Bravo 1 22
Hey guys,
I know there are so many variables in propping and individual results, but if you could say "in general"-
I am running a Mirage Plus 23 with a 496 Mag/Bravo 1 and i am at 62MPH top end speed.
Would I see any top end increases with a Bravo 1 22 Pitch???
I went to Mercs site and did the prop selector and it gave me a Bravo 1 22 pitch.
I have only run a Mirage Plus on my boat- i just would like some input before I spend $500.00
Any Info, tips, advice would be appreciated- Thanks Guys.

Re: Mirage Plus 23 vs Bravo 1 22
Hey Throttle UP-
I know GPS is of course more accurate, but in general with a water pick up teleflex speedo if the speed says 62 would i be traveling slower or faster than that actually with GPS verification?

I have calculated 14% for your slip if your speedo is dead on! You are running right were you should for the 496 at the 4870 RPM at WOT. I would say that speedo are pretty notorious for being inaccurate. They typically read a greater speed than you are actually going...sorry guys!
So in order to run accurate slip numbers we need a GPS reading. Keep us posted.

I'm sorry, what kind of hull do you own?
Years ago before gps we would subtract 5mph off pitot speedometer readings before calculating efficiantcy. If you are actually running slower than stated, your slip will be higher than the current 14%. This means you may benifit on top end from a 4 blade propeller. Hull design matters too.
