Which prop for 35' Fountain Classic?
I have a single step, 2001 Fountain running Bravo (1.50)outdrives with standard height. I have recently increase my 502's to 540's (approximately 700 hp). I don't know the exact hp as of yet, but will send to dyno in the next couple of weeks. What numbers do you need to know to recommend a prop? The boat came with 26 hydromotives, 502 mpi's, 415 hp. I am looking for top speed. Appreciate your recommendations. Let me know if you need additional information.
What are your respective prop trial programs? Thanks.

Stay with Hydromotive 4 blades if you are looking for speed, Bravo 1's will work better planning and mid range, and are almost as fast if you Lab them. I had a 35 Lightning with a little more hp and was turning 29 Hydromotives with 1.36 Gears. Is your engine rev limiter still stock? If its raised and your are turning your engine faster the 26 pitch might still work, if not, have to know rpm to suggest a starting point.

The first trip to the dyno netted 680 hp at 5,600 with 675 lbs of torque at 4,900. I am looking for more hp, so the heads are being worked on now. We are looking to set the peak hp close to 5,800. I will have specific number when I put them back on the dyno.

I will need a little information from you.
If you could provide me with the wet weight of the boat, please.
I will also need to know at what RPM the peak HP is being produced? i understand that you may need to wait for your Dyno runs, though.
What drives and gear ratio?
With a little info we should be able to make a recommendation for you.

Without all the information, a ball park would be to work with 30 pitch 4 blade propellers. RPM deecisions are needed with the HP levels. Indeeed, your 26's may allow some testing to begin with since the rpms are definately going up, depending on where they ran on the 502's.
We have had success with the Bravo1 Labbing to create the best all around propeller for your hull. As far as the Labbed Bravo 1 props being slower at top end than the Q4, we have not found that to be true. We have found the Q4 to be faster on the top end than the box stock Bravo 1 in situations where the slip % was low. Once Lab Finished, the Bravo 1 can surpass the Q4 in all ranges on this hull. Both props will work.
We have a test program that is easy to use. If interested, please give us a call.

Re: Which prop for 35' Fountain Classic?
The drives are 1.5. My heads are being reworked in the next couple of weeks. We are anticipating around 700 hp @ 5,700-5,800 rpm. The peak torque was measured in the first dyno run without the head porting at 675 lbs @ 4,900. The dry weight of the boat is 7,800 lbs., wet weight might be around 8,500. I will have the dyno sheets in a couple of weeks. Thanks.
