I'm an Idiot!
I'm an Idiot....Just like the headline says. Was wondering if anyone can explain the whole prop pitch/Diameter ratio, gear ratio, horsepower, weight of boat thing? Dad is Very experienced but when I ask him the theory he cant explain it to me, says he only knows how to do it. LOL Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I good place to start would be to list where your boat is today and what your primary goals are. Info like:
[*]Target max RPM[*]Max torque at what RPM?[*]Current prop info: type, pitch, diameter?[*]What are your goals? More top speed, better mid-range/acceleration, more bow lift, better handling, etc[*]Current X-dimension[*]Type boat, weight and length[*]Current handling characteristics[*]etc, etc
For a quick education, read the last 30 days of post in this thread. This is a great place to learn; pay close attention to the pro's and believe about 20-50% of what the rest of us say....

Hey Jr. Good to see you guys in OC! If you have not already checked out BAM Marine's knowledge page, it's a must. Learned more there in 30 minutes than in years of listening to everyone's B.S.

I'd be happy to explain as much as I can to you on the phone. I have been tough to get ahold of lately but am always willing to spend the time. Call any time.
