Default QIV slow to plane?

Read a few posts that said twin step foutains liked Hydromotive props so got a chance to try a set of 28P. I am now running 30P B1's. Got about the same WOT speed but was on the limiters so a taller pitch would give me some benefit but they were very slow to plane with a lot of blow out. I could get up without tabs but I really had to feather the throttles. B1s don't have that problem at all.

I did go from 16% - 14% slip @ WOT with the QIV so I can give "props" to that.

Just wondered if anyone else experienced the same?

I had a lot of slippage with the Hydros. IF the boat is set up right, you will get more top end. THe B's have a bit larger surface area and not true to the pitch. A 30P B's is actually like 29 or 28.5. Easier to get out of the hole and plane out.

I'm still experimenting with B's and hydros. Grrrrrr

I will try airplane props next.

Same experience here. The QIV's are faster but they are geared for top-end vs. hole shots. Try the 30 QIV's; everything shoud improve vs. the 28's. Carder

Do the Hydro's have the rings welded on the hubs?

The Hydromotives have always slipped more coming up than round ears like Mirage and Bravos but doesn't really matter if they run better once on plane. To some extent every option involves some level of compromise.

They are straight hubs.
