Eliminator Daytona 27-2006 open.876HP dyno.XR upper 2" shorty 1.27 gears.34 Bravo 1.X level with the lowest point of the sponsons.100mph on the limiter @ 5800.More than a 1/3 throttle left.Fitted 1 1/2" spacer.92mph @ 5200 no trim.Couldn't push it any harder or get it near the limiter due to the conditions. The numbers seem to be about the same.I have a Maximus 32 i have tried with the spacer in but again due to the conditions i could only run 80.I'm sort of lost as to where to go from here.Due i go 1/2"spacer and run the maximus?Another OSOer B Boater has a 27 with around the same power 2" short and the last i spoke to him he was going to try a spacer. If i'm calculating my slip correctly, its huge.

Well running thru your numbers of 1.27 gears 34P Bravo 1@ 100 MPH on the limiter @ 5800 with a 1/3 of the throttle available you have 29% slip. Do you have Dyno runs on the motor. If you do could you please post the RPM at which peak HP is produced as well the RPM at which peak Torque is produced. It would be very helpful if you could give us performance data with the spacer and the 32P Maximus prop. The 5th blade is defiately more condusive to your set up anyway. Let me know what numbers you may have.

Hello,
Something interesting (or not) has happened with Bob's boats over the years. Dennis and Bob were true friends. Bob was the only man Dennis would let give his bride a high performance boat ride. Dennis didn't really care to drive 100 mph boats. Sorry I digress.
Ten years ago we could just Lab a Bravo 1 (standard Mercury Racing template) and put it on most any Daytona's and we would pick up performance. We were dealing with standard or lower X dimensions. Of course at that time they were agressive. What I have learned in the last few years is that the old X dimensions still hold fast for better performance with Mr. Leach's boats. Also 4 blades, when dialed, work the best.
Initial slip numbers with the spacer are only 1% better than the 4 blade (I promise it will change with better conditions and trim). Wait till you can get some good numbers with the spacer and Max and then we can compare WOT stuff and decide a good plan.
It doesn't matter where your tourque and HP curve fall right now, decreesing the slip is key. Can you say open bow?!

Julie max Hp was @ 6150 of 876 and peak torque was 852 @ 4250.Brett over here they are known as Bow riders.I thought if i said open it might just cut it.I will now refer to it as an "open bow".Is that correct. Thanks to both of you for your input.Very much appreciated.I will post more numbers when i get them.Something is not right. Carl.

I knew exactly what you meant. We call them bow riders and open bows here too.
What I was alluding to was that your boat will require extra bow carrying help because of the fact that it is a front seater. It will take more mph to fly the boat.

Julie,Brett.Ran it in a river today.Still with spacer in and with a labbed 34 maximus, labbed to 33.Could only turn it 4950rpm at 90mph.Switched to standard 34 Bravo-5100rpm and 92mph.Lost all the revs just lowering the X 1 1/2".I feel it must be too low or do i go down in pitch. What to do now?

Slip is down to 26-27%. Still quite high. Are you sure you have 1.27 gears?
Sometimes slip aint so bad if the top number is all that matters. We are seeing more speed with higher slip #'s.
I'd try a lower pitch now.

Brett X is about 1 1/2" below lowest point of sponson.I need to find 800-1000 rpm going from the 34 Bravo.30 should do it?It didn't feel as good either with the spacer in.Almost bow heavy. Is this normal?

Only 1.5" below with that hull isn't too low on your hull. I'm surprised it felt more bow heavy with the spacer and being 1.5" below instead of even. I felt it would have helped the front carry a little more even though more drag would be involved.
You should see 700-800 additional rpm going down 4 inches of pitch.
