Default 28p maximas

Would 28P Maximas work on 42 Fountain Ex with 525. Currently turning labbed 32P Bravo 1 @ 5200RPM @ 82 mph WOT. Standard 32P Bravo1 run 5000RPM @ 80 mph. Both were run in salt water, around 1-2 foot waves, 70 degrees, 2 people, and light load of fuel.

Absolutly they will work great. Your ability to get on plane will inprove tremendously as well as drivability. Because your slip is high, there is a chance you will see about 2 mph increase in the top speed as well. The WOT rpm may be close to the rev limiter. Ultimately, Labbed 30's might be the way to go. The 28's are well worth the test!

Brett, I appreciate the help. That is the best part about OSO, the experts are so willing to help. One other question, if you don't mind. The Maximus props are available in 3 diameters,15,15 1/4, and 15 5/8. A friend has tried the 15" on his EX like mine and was all over the rev limiter. Would I be better off with the 15 1/4 or the 15 5/8. If they are the right diameter, what is the cost to lab them?

The Maximus propellers are only available in 15 5/8" diameter as a stock propeller. Mercury has them available in the sizes you mentioned in Lab configuration only.

At BBLADES we Lab them to any size you can imagine or ultimately we decide on. There are also blade area changes that can be applied to affect performance.

We have done 14.5, 14.75, 15.25, 15.375, 15.5 and 15.625 inch increments. On 42's we have done 15.25" and up. I believe we have done more 15.25" than any other with 15.5" second. Decision is made per the rpm required and the boats attitude at WOT.

We sell the propellers and the finishing process at BBLADES. I haven't checked the 2008 price on the Maximus castings yet.

Last years price was $950 for thje propeller plus labor. Labor charges are $559 which includes the diffuser removal.

I got a chance to run the 28P Maximus blades this weekend. They ran great. Awesome hole shot, much better mid-range, and top end right where it should be. Light load of fuel, 1 person, 1-2 chop, windy, boat ran 81 @ 5100-5200 rpm's. I want to do a little more testing with 2 people and 1/2 load of fuel before I decide to get them labbed. Thanks Brett.
