Some pics of gearbox going back together. Only took 5 tries, or one up all night to get set correctly.. I had someone cut new bearing race shims, and his calipers must been off about 0.030" because they looked good until I bolted the case halve together. Then nothing would spin... Went with the old shims and finally got things spinning freely. Fixed my venting issue while in there. A previous owner had made a vent to go deep inside a shaft outa an old pushrod. Found it in the spare parts bin, and figured that's the best design since a spinning shaft would act like a centrifuge. So I dare it to try and blow and oil out the vent tube now..
Also tapped all bearing oiler fittings for new jets. Found were on the last rebuild 3yrs ago, one of the jetted fitting had been replace with a non-jetted fitting. So, that allowed majority of oil to spray out in one location rather than evenly across all bearing and gears. Speaking of gears, Craig at SCS took good care of us on the new set and output shaft. We decided not to undercut this 1:1 setup for strength. The new output shaft turned out sweet too, compared to the old one with 2 busted splines outlined in red..

So ya wanta build a twin 1000hp sub 7-liter 100mph diesel boat do ya?? Sure I'm a sucker for crazy ideas. And now find myself friends with several other insane people on here. So now when my phone rings late at night, and I see those particular names pop up, I always answer with something like "what's up dumbass?"

I have to pick up, cause it usually a good story that never gets shared publicly. Plus ya need need to keep avenues open to offload all the **** you've just destroyed. Always someone out there smarter than you, and ya gotta keep em thinking so..

They are basically identical to a quick change gear set, just minus the quick part..

Got both drives mounted up on Tuesday, then a 900 miles drive in the truck, and made it home in time for a white Christmas.
