Or she'd pump all the fuel into the bilge and leave me floating in the middle of the ocean like day after those pics above..

When we came in from that run Thursday, I noticed some fuel on port side of the bilge. But after not getting the sea strainer top on tight, thought it was mostly water. Well Friday morning I pumped 10 gallons of fuel off the top. Believe Port cracked a high pressure fuel line under the intake, cause she sure dropped all that fuel within about 10 miles of when we last had hatch open. A long story, but she lost fuel pump on Stbd engine heading back to the trailer on a single engine Friday, and we spent about 4 hours floating around in the dark.

Fuel problems on both engines with 15 miles. I'd look like Branson when he broke the Atlantic crossing record. Having fuel filters dropped from a RAF jet in middle of ocean..

Pulled the turbo and charge cooler off Port engine today to get to source of that fuel leak.

Looks like the 12mm stroker CP3 pump suffered an internal failure and puked out some hardware. Funny it still runs. Gonna rip that pump out tomorrow, and inspect the rest of fuel system for metal. Not a normal point to failure on those pumps, so is possible it contaminated the rails and injectors. Being it was running fine, I'm betting not. But have my injector guy on standby in case I need to have them inspected and cleaned real quick..

Who's pump? Happens a lot to Industrial Injection's pumps.

These run a single Exergy 12mm pump. Little checking around found it's not a common failure, but has been noted in stock units also. Pump gets shipped back tomorrow, so should know in a few days of the failure cause.

Mother nature is a real bioch.. Setting here in SW Florida, one of the only spots in the nation not covered with snow and ice, waiting on parts that were shipped out next day air, 3 days ago.

So today we decided to wash the soot off and touch up paint chips on the drives. Gotta get some zincs on em cause they are starting grow new limbs. Then noticed a new paint scratch on the stbd transom assembly. Well maybe that line I saw on there 5yrs ago was more than a scratch... At least now I have something to do while waiting on engine fuel parts.

And here I was all worried about the transom strength on this boat. Bajahahaha...

Ok who originally said they couldn't keep water out of these lower units?? I owe that man a beer.

Thought I had it licked, but today they proved me wrong again. Finally got em to stop leaking oil out a couple months ago, but I don't think Flex Seal could stop these fucers from filling up with water... Maybe if I fill em with distilled water, next check they will drain out clean gear oil. Well now we understand why they build truck transmissions for use in the desert.

72hr Soak Time.

Did find something else onboard less water tight than the drives.. The Stbd fuel lift pump that left me floating on the bay last weekend, was also full of water. Which was kinda strange, since it's mounted to the engine. But the cause was easier to diagnose. Wire leads bulkhead seal was the pumps point of failure. Every time I washed it down, some more water seeped in. Pretty sure I can fix that.

Maybe we will put a couple of these sticker on em and see if they stop leaking.. Cause next fix, they gonna have good reasons to leak.

Anyone have an old trampoline setting around they would like to donate to us??
