You must have one hell of a welder to weld that thick of aluminum

Everything gets wrapped in 1/4" plate. So gussets will get tied into that outer plating.

is there a reason the mid plates are short and radiused?

other wise look very stout -- the 1/4 will add lots of strength. Don't forget drain plugs --- just in case....

Those are ll the raw cutouts from the center holes. Transom plate side holes are 1" shorter. Nothing cut to length in that pic. But did get few of them done today.

Snapped a couple pics inside the old boxes today, and noticed they look almost identical gusset layout as I mocked up. These were build by a member here like 15yrs ago or so. However they only used 5 gussets. One center up top. Since I'm putting the inspection plate there, one to each side of that hole is my only option. And since nobody twisted those boxes apart after being on several performance boats, think we'll just stick with a proven design this time also. I'm little tied of reinventing the wheel..

Webster; reinvent the wheel, slang, pronounced, re-in-vent we-ul.
definition; to endlessly ponder how one would do it differently on the next project while present project is still ongoing.

See I've been doing it all wrong.
However what to do when wheel falls off the current project? Does one put the broken wheel back on, or reinvent a better wheel now?
