Hey Ken the blue Duramax’s would look good in the fishing boat lol. Send them down with Ryan and we’ll run em in front of the Huber 1550’s and wet six’s for a few laps around Lido.
maybe even talk innovation into dusting off their duramax fountain as well.

Sunday I actually made some progress in the right direction. After refilling the drives, and purposely overfilling the Stbd gear case, I tackled our slipping transmission issues. And with some very generous long distance help from TG between diaper changes, was able to get the line pressure jacked up over 200psi. Fluid smelled petty smoked, shifted find on the trailer.
Headed back to the ramp, this time with the borrowed 18"x30P 4-blades. Not only did the transmissions hold in high gear, but the boat jumped up on plane amazing easy with those props. Took a couple tries, but once I let it up-shift automatically at 40mph, then feathered the throttles up, she settled down and cruised nicely at 50mph and 2100rpm. However I'd left both drive height indicator cables off from earlier in the day, so my trim was a less than perfect. But she still managed to make a roost.... FINALLY !!!
Yesterday I went back out to gather some engine data. and managed to get up on plane couple more times. But still having issues with shifting. There are two solenoids that control low gear, and we might have them releasing in wrong order. But anyhow, I disarmed the automatic upshift controller, and was able to hold low gear until we reached 45+mph with tabs full down. Then on upshift it had enough boost and torque to easily maintain speed. Making about 55mph at 2400Rpm in high gear with 30P props. So I decided to roll into the throttle one time, and that's when the Port trans puked out another half a quart of fluid... So clutches are toast for certain,, I called it a day and came home to review the data. Engines doing fine. Small issue on Port to address, but everything running within specs.

Tomorrows plan is wash the boat, and then find a couple helpers to yank the transmissions and the Stbd drive. Dig up some better clutches, and hope Tyson finds the valve body diagrams to verify the fluid flow direction. While I tear down and inspect the upper gear reduction box. Things are slowly improving, went from 20mph to 60mph in just a 8days...
Also she's gonna need some 320 tabs if anybody's seen a set posted for sale.

Boat has a set of factory single ram merc style on it now, just 18 inchers or whatever Baja used back when. Was looking for same style to just swap out the pads, so I don't need to peal the backing plates off the transom again. But your certainly in the right length.
In last on plane / shift attempt, I was running full drive trim down at 60mph to keep these props hooked, and tabs were neutral. To get up on plane, was full tabs down and drives at neutral seemed to work best. Hope to get back out in a couple days with our shifting issues resolved and get some good video on actual shaft running depth. The gopro getting moved down to the water pickups since roost is obscuring the view at speed.

Worst of the two has some pretty smoked up clutches, everything else looks good. New clutches should be here within the hour. Then a 12hr drive back to the house.

I have been following your work on this project. What an awesome piece of engineering, your tenacity is inspirational. When the bugs are worked out the owner will have a one of a kind, that is better than any production boat out there.
Looking forward to the next water test!
Thank you for posting so much detail and hard work!
