Options to make my quieter?
Hello group, I bought this Donzi 24, old 70s hull, its got a single 502 with thru hull exhaust, chromed headers, runs very good and its a beautiful boat, but a little loud, in my opinion. I am mechanically inclined, been around engines, cars, bikes, etc, but i have a LOT to learn about boats and marine engines. What options are there to make it quieter? ..with out having to go to original exhaust system? are there any? Thanks

You will have to look at muffler tips (re & re your originals) or Silencer inserts (that install in the pipe as a baffle, downstream of the headers) from a marine dealer like Hardin Marine , Teague Custom Marine or any of the advertisers on here.. Fairly straight forward install

Oh, OP, do not get the following style muffler insert that many make/sell. It will choke your engine as hard as the Queen's Secret Police choked Epstein in jail

I have the Gibson clamp on mufflers and they work well. I have had them 10 years and no problems. Still sounds serious when you jump on it, but very mellow when idling down the river. I love them for cruising very quiet in the boat loader outside the boat. Once it gets to about 3000rpm when your on it hard it comes alive. Didn't notice any change in power with them either.
