Slow process is going on.
Camshafts are timed now, stock Transmash valve timing is not good for turbodiesel. Except intake valves, they are set 110* centerline. I found some other performance turbodiesel camshaft specs in internet, for example cummins performance street cams use similar timing. Think about it, Transmash cams have grind 60 years ago and present-day custom cams use still same timing!
But exhaust side are not so good, valves open 36* BBDC at 0,5mm lift, they are way too retarded. Cylinder pressure must get out of cylinder before piston start move upwards, otherwise engine make negative work. I make huge adjustment and advanced them 20*, future show us how it performs. If we compare centerlines, stock was 97* and now its 117*. Some Cummins performance cams use 118* exhaust centerline. Cummins 5.9 or 6.7 is not very good comparison engine to transmash because it revs way more, but in other hand one cylinder volume versus port flow could be worse than cummins so engine needs more cam, who knows.
Valve lash have also big affect to total timing so I set it first to smoothest approach ramp or whatever is called so lash must reduce from 2,3mm to 1,9mm. Stock clearance smash straight to lift ramp, not good to noses and lifters. RPM are low but parts mass is high, better go safe way.

To intake side I have think about lift same cylinder intake valves at different lift and duration. Transmash doesn't have swirl effect, its disadvantage. If intake port outer arc valve at flow direction is opened first and closed last, it could make air rotate in cylinder. Maybe someone have tried it and talks about him experience to us?

Drives start to take shape also. I can't wait to get them ready, should be nice pieces. All stainless steel and aluminium bronze, corrosion resistant, no cracking cast parts, no rubber belows, easy to maintain, very solid drives.
In picture they are not ready, only rough cut to near dimensions and some parts doesn't exist yet.
If they work and can handle Transmash power, I probably start to manufacturing and sell them from order. Any thrust tube length, any fin dimensions and any prop splines, just like you want.
Stay tuned!

Everything is ok except that I am too busy to build Fountain in schedule I want. Drives get on slowly, they are back in machine shop. In few months they should be ready, trim cylinders and extension boxes are next step. I draw CAD pictures soon, so same machine shop can manufacture cylinders and some other metal work company can make the boxes. My time is not enough to machine all myself, otherwise boat is never ready...
I bought new to me propellers, Kiekhafer forged 4 blade 18.2"x28" in great shape. They are too low pitch but I think they are good props for beginning, calculated top speed should be 90-100mph.
If I can't get Fountain ready next 15 years, little boat builder can do rest. Now she is barely size of HX80 Holset.

That’s the attitude you should have for a project like this. Keep after it but don’t kill yourself over it. In the end it’s just a boat and there’s way more important things. She’s a cutie right there!

You have many admirers of your work thus far, and if she’ll run 90+….😳

IGetWet, you are right, but boating is top 3 priority in life. House project will get ready in 3-6 months, after that Fountain project goes on much quicker. I hope it see water in two years.

Brilliant build. I have thought about doing something on the water with a Transmash, but nothing this ambitious!

I'm currently building a car with one, Stridsvagnshotrod on Facebook.

I also needed to make a custom gearset, mine multiplies the rpm 3x.

Thanks! I have followed your build almost from beginning. Transmash is good powerplant but needs some updates from stock.

Nice beginning for new year, drives came from machine shop. They look really good I think. There are no bearings or seals yet, I have to make oil plug, hose to oil reservoir and some locking screws to keep everything together. Then adjust clearances and put drives together. Trim cylinders is next on the list but honed stainless cylinder tube are hard to find, I have thick wall tube that can be machined and honed to meet requirements but it will be much easier if I find 50mm honed tube somewhere.
Extension boxes are almost draw ready, my friend metal work company can do those.
Stay tuned!
