I'm don't know prop's that well but I'm runing a Mirage 1 26" pitch 4 blade's on my twin 496's(550hp each motor) 1987 38' scarab and it moves the boat very well.

Chuck you have the power to spin those props though....330hp dont do to well trying to move a heavy boat around with tall props. My 30' scarab had the 23's witht he stock 330's. Just for kicks i tried a set of 25's a friend had and the engines couldnt spin past 4600 no matter what i did....they just dont have the power for anything bigger.

Wally,
Like I said I don't know that much on prop's? I guess you need to try different pitches in the props if you are able to borrow any? instead of buying exspensive ones and find out they don't work.My Scarab is pretty light(9,100lbs.KV hull)) and the guy I bought it from really knows his boats so I'm sure I have the rite prop's for mine?

i have a 80 flat deck 30 with same power and merctrans. Better to stick with the cleavers than a mirage if you want those trannys to hold up...I am running 24p and have swapped a friend's 23 on the boat and have similer results with both(1/4 inch dia. smaller with the 24's) I have lots of answers to your 30 questions ....just completed a complete refit/rebuild on mine...

I agree,
I have an '86, 30 footer with twin 425's TRS and run 25 mirages. I have a friend with a '88, 30 footer with twin 330's bravo running 23 mirage +, he can't spin the 25's.
