Changed out both engine harnesses today, that sucked!! Spent a couple of hours tracing all the wires, and generally checking all the connections- got everything sorted out(after fixing all the stupid mistakes), went to light it off and I was still popping the circuit breakers. After scratching my head for a long while, and rechecking all the stuff I had already checked, I found the right ignition switch hot lead was shorting against the throttle cable housing causing it to short out. The good news is I found my electrical problem, the bad news is I now have to buy a new throttle cable and change it out.

Its always the last little sh!t that takes the longest.

Capone550- nice to meet you- thanks for the help!!

You have the same shifter/throttle setup as mine. What a pain in the a$$ to swap the cables out! I replaced my throttle cables last fall before I put the boat away and I was cursing and swearing the whole time!

At least you found the problem!

Good Luck!

Mine are Kiekhaefers- or basically Mercury racing performance shifter- you can get the parts from Merc.

Make sure if you buy one used that you get the ends that go into the shifter(the cable ends) because those little items are $pendy!!!
