Default looing at a 28' excel...88'. couple of questions

hi,

it says it has a kevlar hull. what are the benefits? first time i've ever heard of it. also, what would be a good price for one that looks to be stock with 454/brav1, 390 hours. it just looks like a well taken care of stock boat. i have a 19' maxum bow rider now with a 5.7L. we want to upgrade to something in the 28-32' range with a cuddy that also has a little performance. what is the average top speed of one of these? any comments will be greatly appreciated. don't mean to be short, but i only have a couple days i think to decide if i want to drive out and look at it. a few things i'm sure i'd do before next season are gauges, new interior, seats maybe, etc. just to freshen up the look. thanks fellas. great forum.

regards,
bill warren

Can not speak for sure about the Kevlar I would say stronger and lighter usually go with anything that uses Kevlar. Is the 454 the magnum (365HP) or the 330 HP. That could be important for later upgrades. (the mag has better heads, rods, crank). What is a good price? Good question I have seen them in the twenties, but I would say somewhere in the teens with trailer. I have an 89 Excel, it is my first boat, no complaints. Look it over for stress cracks I found more than I realized the first time I waxed it. Speeds are probably 58-62 range.

I bought my 1989 Scarab new in 1990 I remember the option was about 3000.These boats are pretty strong and heavy, I would think it would be for weight manley for the Kev.I owned my Scarab for 12 years and sold it to a friend that had it for 3.There was a few stress crack in the bottom toward the fron strakes, I really didnt jump wakes so I would think these prob were nornal.I have the original prices sheet s and opt sheet Ill take a look.

I sold my for 27500.3 years ago but it had some stuff on it I would figure they would be in the low 20's

I would think if they paid for the kevlar hull it would have the 365 mag in it
