Ok I took my 26 out today w/ my gps and recorded 60mph maxed out, can't tell you the rpm because the tach was acting screwie. Normally it's 5200-5400. It's a stock 502 MPI w/ Imco powerflow risers, elbow, and through transom exhaust. Full tank of gas two adults (not skinny). Stock bravo 1 and a mirage 23p prop. Sound right to you guys? If not where to start?

My Scarab 26 is going in for some CMI elbow-top headers this winter (maybe before xmas). Water won't get dumped into the exhaust until the transom. She'll be bone stock, except for the CMI headers, fresh graphics and a couple of new gauges. A modern prop is on order, too (old original Mirage lacks aggressive design).
I like reliable, turn-key type of performance. Can anyone suggest any mods worth making that don't risk engine integrity, but give good bang for the buck?
(502 EFI Merc).

headers or a whipple charger is all that has been suggested to me i guess it is hard to work around the computer most engine builders want to switch you to a carb engine
