1- blackhawks are done.
2- wish i had them.
3- LS was team scarab , mostly race boats. Hand built custom boats , nice rigging. AVS is the step hull wellcraft built 33 and 38 ,never changed the 29 hull while produced. Wellcraft built the production scarabs , genmar (wellcraft) didn't want to build go-fast boats I guess.
4-what are they asking? link?
5- I am very happy with mine. Fit and finish is good , holds up well , easy to work on. Easy on the wallet to own.

Acually Wellcraft started building the 33'AVS in 1998 the 38'AVS in 1999 and the 43' AVS in (?)( which btw is now the Eliminator 43 Eagle all over the boat mags)

Good answers on the BlackHawk. The master that designed the drive now is involved with SweetWater Performance Center in Oshkosh. Great guy. The Bravo III came from the Black Hawk. He raced a 30 foot Larry Smith that eventually became the P-29 Hull. Lots of history with LS and Scarab. IMHO - Wellcraft trashed the Scarab name. As far as I know the only thing that 'Wellcraft' built as a production Scarab was anything lower than 29 feet, with exception to the P-29. The (29) P-29's were built by Larry Smith, along with any 38 or 43 Scarab after 1996. LS never sold the molds for the 38 or the 43. In fact, they have a few 43's with stepped hulls on the Pacific coast. One was at the Las Vegas SEMA show and had 1100 (Phaff?) motors in it. Ran 123 or so on GPS. Not too shabby for a 43 Scarab. Had Imco shorties on it, so they acted like Black Hawks, and kept the hull flat. I wish Larry would build a V-hull that would compete with Reggie's 'Cat Killer'. No one else had come to the plate with a V. One person that should be mentioned here is Randy Scism that builds boats that will run circles around any V Hull, including Fountain. Sorry Reggie, admit it.

Has anyone heard of a single engine 29 converted to either a Blackhawk or Imco shorty drive? If so, what was the result? If not, do you think the single would respond positively (speed, etc.) to that drive change like the twin would?

OshkoshThunder - those pics awe awesome...certainly an incredible boat!

I would like to know about the shorty also, I have the imco 12" box on my single but it is set at nuetral. I've been told by quite a few people that I would benefit from the 2" shorty but I neveer met, or talked to anyone who has tried it on a single.
