Just for s#%* and giggles, the studs in the Kaama housing are Inconel and almost impossible to get out. I broke off a drive and the machine shop had to drill them out, and we replaced them with larger stainless.
Thanks man!

Yes longer studs and an inner transom plate that will also be bolted from inside the boat into the adaptor. Nothing is going to move! I still have to make the inner plates. The drives I have are in very good shape with almost no corrosion around the studs. 2 of the studs already came out because someone threaded a course nut onto the fine thread stud. I will use a bit of heat and they will hopefully come right out!

Very happy how it's all coming together. Next major hurdle is getting the engine chassis all mounted up and positioned correctly!

Mockup is coming along nicely! I wasn't sure if the extensions would look out of place but i think they look almost factory!

the billet you had cut was that something you were missing with the kama drives, or is it a modification you are doing to the drive package?

It's a modification. For these drives to fit in my boat I either had to tear out the gas tank and modify the floor and front bulkhead to give the engine 4.5" more room or move the drive out the back 4.5". I went with option #2!

Are you going to fill in the existing holes before you cut for these drives?

No, the reason is I still need to do a bunch of mockup work inside to locate the engines correctly and this will be so much easier with the existing holes still there. Once the drives and engines are properly located I will patch the existing holes. It shouldn't be that big of a deal!

Are you going to patch the old holes or replace all the wood in the transom? I'd be concerned it wouldn't be as strong with just patching the existing holes. There's gonna be a lot of pressure pushing against that transom with 500+hp per side.

. if I remember correctly he had replaced the transom a few years ago. it should hold okay and where the surface drives are being mounted it is close enough to the bottom of the transom there is plenty of strength between the hull and stringers
