We should be on the water today. We're starting with Bravo One 30's. We have a set of 32's as well and getting a set of 34's just in case. As usual though, we have run into a bunch of little things with the final ticking and tying of issues. I will post some pics of the water test when I get them. in addition, I will upload some video of the running motors etc. Thanks, M

In any event, the boat went out without major issue. We had a few items pop up causing the WOT test to be halted. One is a starboard fuel regulator. The other, was port trim pump motor, possibly ran low on oil, mitigating the use of trim while under power.

Other than that boat tested out with 32 pitch bravo one's, ran in the 80's at 4000 rpm and no trim...the motors redline at 6200.

Adjustments are being made, we'll see how it runs out with all working parts.

Charged Scarab, Nice project. Can't believe i haven't seen this project. I've got one of the P29 Scarabs and have just about completed a complete restore on it. We've painted top to bottom entire new cockpit with upholstery, gauges and wiring. New 427 naturally aspirated small blacks producing 550 on the dyno with 600 foot pounds of torque. Have BlackHawks 31's with a spare and in the process of converting to 1:50 gears. Breaking in the motors right now with a few hiccups as well but going well. So far turning about 80ish at 4400 rpm is where we are. Pics over on Facebook search for group Scarab P-29.

What gear ratio are you running? Your slip numbers would appear to be impossibly low?

That P-29 is gorgeous. Tremendous build!

Marine Performance is the local guru for blackhawk drives, those are the guys doing this build. To the other fella about the slip; the boat has always performed well with regard to slip ratios. In addition, we are running a shorty (-2") IMCO drives.

No offense, but regardless of the shorty drives, the numbers you are throwing out would yield between 0 and 2 percent slip depending on whether it is 1.5 or 1.47 gear ratio? That just isnt possible. At best you could be in the low to mid 70s at 4000 rpm. If you are running 1.35 gear ratio than the numbers you post are concievable at approx 10% slip but you must have HUGE power if that is the case? Math never lies.

Hmm, not certain what the implication is here. In any event, instread of implying people may be fabricating such events, one should probably discuss the possible inaccuracies of the livorsi tachometer and GPS speedometer with recall switch. Or one could continue to break out the heuristic based "mathematics" of hydrodynamics and bench top slip ratio calculations. In all three scenarios, I'm certain something doesn't "add" up...it is in fact boating.
