The project looks awesome. I redid my trailer last year and used 2x6 bunks in the center of the keel, midway, and at the outer edge. I used 1 1/2 x 3 channel with flat stock on top so I did not have to worry about water or moisture getting trapped inside. I centered the boat and made a couple of small blocks to get the angle correct. I then used that block and measured each x-member adding or subtracting for the height. I wrote the measurements down and random checked to see both sides were the same. After that I cut them all and welded them in. It worked perfect.

1Zoom your trailer bunks cover every contour of your Cigs underside......every strake, very well thought out!

Boat is really looking awesome. So many of these projects never get finished, and I am certainly guilty of falling into that category.

Are you planning on cutting down or replacing the winch pedestal? I am sure it will be way to tall. When I picked up the trailer for my Cigarette the winch stand was low, but Evolution thought it would be fine. It wasn't, it made it almost impossible to get the boat all the way up on the trailer. They sent me a longer one and I think that will solve the issue. I haven't used the boat since I received the new stand.

What did ever happen to your Scarab? I know you sold it, but did the guy who bought it finish it?

Looks like the pedestal is definitely getting cut. I’ll have to do that after I get the boat where it needs to be on the trailer. We got the hatch and grilles primed and it looks like I’ll be standing the bunks up under the strakes like it was before. I made some stands to hold the chines so I can get under the boat and grind and weld...

I'd wait to cut the winch tower until you can eyeball it on the ramp at angle.
you never know what needs moved until your launching and recovering.
You dont want the rubrail touching the bow stop on the way off, or the bow being under the stop when she's floating and being winched up.
the winch stand does look high right now but consider ramp angle, how deep the trailer may have to be to launch/recover and where the bow eye and rub rail will be while she's afloat, about to be afloat or anywhere inbetween and in either direction.

You might find the winch is high enough to get her loaded, but the stop is too high
your a great fabricator, the winch tower is bolted on and it can wait, we're chomping at the bit for the paint scheme on the boat.

Yep Dan, the pedestal will be addressed after the bunks are in place for sure.
We’re going to try to pick up the other boat in Iowa this week. It’s been below freezing up there for like a month. Yikes.
Meanwhile I've got the arch pretty close to being sprayed with slick sand. Also we sprayed a few more coats of urethane prime on the hatch as well as went ahead and painted the grilles white.
Also Winston and Michael have been experimenting and playing with the fade colors.

We’ll get to painting soon guys. Inching closer every day. 😀
We’ve gotten a fair amount done to the trailer the last few days. We had the boat actually sitting on the trailer today.
