LOL! That's an optical illusion. It hasn't been sanded and buffed yet. Pretty textured up and sags here and there. I'll get them taken care of when we get time.

Finally able to work on the boat today. A few weeks ago we had a body technician off for a week on vacation, then a painter broke his arm, detailer had surgery, and the a/c in the ceiling of the office caught on fire and had to be replaced (thankfully no damage to the office). All happened the same week. Needless to say it’s been rough lol.

I sanded the transom, gunnels, and rear of the walkway, buffed it and started installing hardware. Also moved the engines where they’re easier to work on. Finally rigged up the power steering. I think I’m going to run only 1 pump. And my davis ignition is not going to work, it interferes with the blower. That’ll give me something to do. 🤪

Looking good buddy.
Yea I could have warned you about the ignition had I known…….
You are pretty much limited to MSD, Vertex Mag or coil on plug with the blowers.
I ran a Vertex mag on my blower motor V drive for years without a hiccup but my engine guy discouraged it on these motors citing less voltage output in the magneto compared to the MSD setup.

I’m sure he’s right but they sure were more dependable than the multi component MSD stuff.

I get about 15-20 hours out of a MSD distributor cap (carbon button goes away) and then the 6-AL box is good for at least one failure every other season or so.

I’ll probably switch to magnetos when I pull for refresh and just carry a spare unit (that I probably won’t ever need)

Been looking at the pic for a while and just don't like the belt on the ALT, its recessed in the Vee, should be higher.
Might alos send the PS connection behind it instead of in front

yeah I’ll be getting a belt like the one on the port motor. It larger and rides higher in the groove. I ran this power steering setup in my last boat and never had a problem with it. I know it looks sketchy like the belts are going to get the reservoir hose, but like I say, I haven’t had a problem.

I haven’t had much time to work on the boat lately. I was able to finally get some nicer carriage bolts off bolt depot.com. I’ve been getting most stainless fasteners from Lowe’s, but they like to stamp the bolt heads with script which I don’t want. I polished the bolts and installed them and caulked the arch and bolts with 3M marine caulking.
Also my friend made me some new cabin hatch hinges out of stainless. The originals were some kind of pot metal and all but one was broken.
Also I purchased an LED stern light, and a low profile LED anchor light I will be painting white before installing on the arch, also have the exhaust vent motor and hose on the way. And I’ve just about got the hatch actuator rigged and working. I’m trying to get all the things i can in the engine compartment installed before the engines go back in to stay.

Yep Kelly, I've got to get my ignitions coming too. I'm gonna have so many spare parts I'm gonna need to start a powerboat flea market here at the shop.

Been working on the hatch actuator. I polished and drilled an aluminum plate, ran some tapered screws through it from the backside, ground the hatch and bonded the plate to the hatch. I ran self tapping 1” screws into the center stringer, According to my measurements the actuator will clear everything. I also used some carriage bolts in the front corners of the hatch jam and made some bumpers for the corners of the hatch. I think they will work OK. I may or may not bond some stainless blanks to the hatch to keep from marking the paint.
