holy crap, your really moving on this !
fell 4 pages behind, it's looking great.
talking about paint is a good sign, sounds like you still have gut full of motivation
totally agree, bond the hull and deck, my old scarab leaked around the entire rubrail
ask archer or glass dave for a pro technique on how to tab it together.

Thanks safari, by the way, what’s your name? Also endeavor32 what is yours? Mines Heath. Feels strange not calling each other by name.
Anyway, cleaning up and realized, this is going to have to lighten the load in the front of the boat. This original center stringer and front bulkhead are HEAVY. I think the stringer weighs 70lbs.
More than you think..

If you'll notice I'm not tabbing the rear part of the front right stringer, it's rotten and will be the last piece of rot to come out of the front of the boat.

When you cut a stringer and take it out, when putting the new one in, there is a gap in between the stringer and the lateral stringer, not really with bulkhead. What do you do with the gap? Just tab in place and glass the joint even if there is a space?

From what I can tell from the factory the bulkheads and stringers were all butted hard up against each other, then glassed. The lateral side braces were added afterwards, because the fiberglass on the outside of the stringer is in between side braces and the actual wood on the stringer. Which is a big reason why these boats rot from end to end over a long period of time, but the lateral braces are almost never rotten.
The reason for the gap between the lateral braces and the stringer is because I had to cut a little bit off the end of the braces to wiggle the rotten stringer out. If the gap isn't closed up by the time the stringer is glassed I may cut out and replace the braces. I don't want to try to bridge too big a gap with fiberglass.

Your boat is looking good. I didn't realize the center stringer under the v-birth was so heavy. I really didn't plan on cutting into that area in mine, but if it's 70 lbs, I'll be replacing it. I finally have this weekend to get back to mine, and I'm certainly excited to finally get back to work on it. It's been 3 long weeks, with no progress.
As for my name- it's Mike.

Yeah Mike it’s not because I’m m enjoying it, I’ve just been trying to bulldoze thru this really crappy part. This front has been tough. There’s a lot of area on the center stringer to glass and it’s hard to get to. I got some more done today. Hope to come back up here tomorrow afternoon and do some grinding and put two layers of glass on the right stringer, and hopefully lay the floor down in the v berth.

I finally was able to work on mine today. I took my belt sander with 36 grit, and sanded all day in the bilge. I removed at least 40 pounds of fiberglass dust, which was all the old tabbing from the old grid work. I think I blew through 8 belts and I'm not even close to being done. This is one project I kind of wish I skipped, but I hated how it trapped water. Oh well, it will be nice when it's done.
The V-Birth area, looks like it's coming along nicely. I bet you can't wait to get that done!
