1995 29' Anything to look out for?
As the title suggests, it looks like I'm going to check out a '95 29 Scarab next weekend. Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for? Any known problem areas to be aware of?
The boat is a twin 350 model, only 200 hours. Other than that, the broker couldn't give me too much info. It is bottom painted, and was used in salt water.
What's a good guess on what it's worth? They're asking $35K. Nada says avg. retail is 32, low is 25. I'm figuring the bottom paint alone puts it closer to low, even if the boat is mint.

I have a 96 I run in salt water. Mine has a supercharged 502 in it. I would check for corrosion on the wiring back by the engine. Check the wiring by the starters if you can see them. I had a friend with twins that the shifter cables kept binding and breaking.
Have someone do a compression check on the engines and also check exhuast for corrosion. I flushed mine at least for 20 minutes before I put back in storage. Check the drive oil, engine oil. Check where the porta-potty is, in front by the V-birth for mildew etc...
Anymore questions, feel free to email me!
If it all works out, Welcome to the Scarab team!!!

Thanks for the info. If it looks good initially, I'll have a survey done, but these are good things for me to check out beforehand.
What speeds do you see with your set up?
