Any experiences on installing a silent choice exhaust system to Scarab III. Just trying figure out whether to stick with clamp-on mufflers or go with "the works".

I have silent choice an my boat and I love it. With the mods that I have done my boat is about as loud as a stock 502 with the exhaust open when I am in silent mode. With the exhaust open I can wake the dead.
When the boat was stock you could not here the exhaust when crusing. Now you can here it just fine.

Dare I even ask about the mods you've made? As a basic setup are we talking about something which can be done over the weekend. I mean is it even remotely simple to install or do I need to get the boat to a shop?

If you are handy you can install the silent choice yourself. Yes it can be done in a weekend depending on what you need to do. Do you have the Y pipe?
If not then the engine will need to be removed to gain axcess to the mounting bolts. The mods that I have done to my boat and engines are a long list.
502's putting out 600 HP and still using stock heads. ( they aren't very stock though )

Remember (on 500's or bigger) to always turn it off before raising the rpm's -- otherwise you'll be rebuilding motors! Also, make sure the mechanism is out of harms way from water. A friend mounted his where the air vents (and the drain from the engine hatch) drained right on top of them, then into the bilge.
