I dont know anything about that boat specifically. I think I saw it for sale a year or so ago.
I just never saw a 38 with a turbo, I've seen plenty of 31s though. They may have transplanted the factory merc engines. The turbo engines in the 31s did not seem to have a long life. Maybe that's why the turbos were only made a couple years.
I've also never seen a factory SSM II on a 38. I have seen several people who put II lowers on TRS uppers and maintained the same drive height. This results in the drive being about 2" too low. No speed gain there.
I thought the 377 designation is for the raised deck boats. I cant see the pics you posted, but if it's the same one, it was a flat deck.

Hi guys, LeeS here, haven't been here for awhile and changed emails, so I had to pick a new user name and reregister.
475 turbo package definitely made by Merc back in the day and they packaged it with speedmaster2. Originally made due to request by Reggie Fountain and went in a lot of his boats. Also went in a few 30 Scarabs, they ran 85mph and were pretty wild as the 30 hulls at that time were not designed either for those speeds or for a prop that surfaced. Might find some guys over on the Fountain forum who remember this package.
That is definitely a flat deck Wellcraft dash, the rasied deck had a different dash. I looked in some old brochures I have, the flat deck at that time was called 377 special edition. The hulls were the same so it stands to reason the hull number is correct for a 38 flat deck of that vintage.
This engine was available in a flat deck, special order of course from a knowledgeable dealer who dealt with Gus Anastasia directly. Back in those days you could get whatever you wanted if you talked to Gus. Just had to come up with the bucks.
Based on owning a 630hp 38kV I would guess that this boat might run 72-74 if the motors are in real good shape and the props are true. 440s would barely get you past 70. And even if the boat is kevlar that will not mean more than 400lbs saved. Wellcraft had a lamination schedule that involved great thick layers of the stuff, not the many thin layers that Larry Smith used, no light weight resins and no vacum bagging at Wellcraft in those days. Still sounds like a desirable and rare boat.

So how about a picture of the boat? I have a 1982 flat deck KV that HIN also ends in the -377. Not a turbo combo or anything, but it seems our power is about the same. Congrats on the purchase, I am sure you will really enjoy your new toy!!!

I finally got a chance to look
at the photos, Im wondering if
there is a name "BlueWater" on
the Switch plates or on the
Trim switches or ind. plates.
The "TURBO" Logo looks like a
Volvo part.
I didn't start working with
Team Scarab as a Sub Contractor untill 1985 and then kinda merged with Warren
and Larry in 1988 when they
moved to Ventura.
I would hang onto the Boat if
you can im sure there were not
a lot of those made.
An other person who might have
some info about that boat is
Freddy Miller, He was with
Team Scarab about that time and went on to be the #1 man
with Tom Gentry and was involved with the Genrty Turbo
Motors and Most of the Boats.
