Default anybody still out there?

lots of good info in this thread
new to me 22, just picked up, 454/330, Alpha, Cleaver, 174 original hours
purchased from the original owner

the plan is to run it as is this season & upgrade over the winter
like to end up with a 70+ top speed
500-600hp, Bravo w/shower and hydraulic steering seems to be the formula
suggestions appreciated

What speed are you getting now? You should be close to 70mph.

best of 59 on the GPS so far, speedometer is much more optimistic
only turning 4000 or so RPMs, I'm going to look into the gearing and prop
current prop is a Cleaver

this is the prop we're running;
Quicksilver 48 89802 A5 21P
Alpha drive with 1.32R
4400 RPM, best of 60 MPH (GPS)
454 Mag (330HP)
is there a better prop for top speed?
seems like we should be able to turn more RPMs?
I'd like to get as much as I can out of this combo for this summer, changes are coming over the winter.
Thanks for the help

Andy

The speed is about right but your RPM is a little low which I'm guessing is because of the 1.32 gear ratio, mine was a bravo w/ a standard 1.5 ratio. The 330 hp engine is the peanut port cylinder headed motor with a cast crank. The Magnum 454 was a 365 hp engine square port head steel crank set up and I don't think many made it into the Pachanga's. A set of Dart Iron Eagle heads 308 cc with a HP 500 cam (591-601 lift and 226-234 @50 on a 112 lobe center) Edelbrock performer or Air gap intake w/ a good 750 Q series Quick Fuel carb, you'll need some Stainless marine exhaust and BAM you will run 74-75.

Thanks for the info,
are the stock crank & rods up to the task?
