Last week i skied a couple of times behind a 28' Cat (center sponson) with Xr drives and it was fine. For sure we can't ski behind our 37' outerlimits with #6's (1" inch spacers now, maybe 3" spacers would help).
Just get a LONG ski rope!

Curtis,
The Bravos can last if you are easy on the throttles and keep them in the water. Then every 100 hours reverse them because the upper gears wear out first. The prop shafts have been improved with the ZX's, thanks to your testing in 1999.
Also the Sportmasters are needed with the high X dimensions cats run, since the lateral (side loading) will crack the lower housings.
You had a 36 Bravo and a 36 #6 boat. What do you think of the differences? One is light and runs flat, the other is heavy and porpoises. If you want to go over 110, Bravos aren't the answer.
The new 700 merc's with the new drive should be a good combination.
900 HP will put you in the 140's.
My 2004 Skater is pictured below. How is the family?

John,
Nice boat, thats a 36 pleasure right ? Must have 6's with that rooster tail. what kind of power and what speeds are you seeing.
Thanks for the info on the bravos, I think im going with either 6's or arnesons. Thinking of putting a diesel with a multispeed tranny in it.
Thanks for asking about the family they are great.

Curtis,
Yes it's a 2004 36 like Yahoo 1, with a cabin and # 6 drives (1.24 gears) and Hering 16.5X35 6 blade props. Motors are Sterling 572 cube with Whipple quad rotors The set-up otherwise is very mild with longevity in mind. They dynoed in the mid 900's, and it will run in the 140's. The roster tail is for the camera. I don't normally run it like that!
There is a new( under 10 hrs.) 32 B type for sale here in New York with Arneson 7a's with fully warranteed 496 425's with trailer for the upper 100's. I think it is a steal. It ran 106 first time out and is listed here on OSO.
I have a 382 Formula in Florida (in the avitar) so the Skater can stay mint in it's boat house up here.
What is your opinion on the drive differences?

I dont think there is any diff in the speed between the two. Craig at lake x and I did alot of testing in the day.
The biggest diff in speed is the props the props for the 6 are a ton better than what you can get for the bravo. Unless you can get ahold of some herrings.
The tranny in the six slows it down, but if you use a crashbox I think the 6 is faster.
We got yahoo2 up to 113 with hp 500's and standard tranny, not bad.
I got so sick of blowing up bravos, I dont think I will ever buy another.
Im familiar with the 32b looks like a good buy, I just dont want a 32, and Im not ready yet. Still talking the wife into it, almost there. Shes scared I will get the bug and want to go racing again.

That was my wifes favorite boat Ive ever had, she still gives me grief about it.
I traded a 46 skater for it, the first time I quit racing.

Peppers 36 Classic With Four Seat Canopy Is For Sale. Ask Anyone This Thing Is Fast, No Roostertail, Also No Cabin Though.
Put A/c On It And You Will Love It For Mead Or Havasu.
32 Is Also A Great Boat, But No 36. We Have Had Both
123 With 5blds. Imco's, And Only Blew Ondrive And That Was My Fault.
