40 X Dimension
We touched on this in another thread. My X on my 40, with the old style lowers, is 5.5. Some of you said this is way to high. After looking at some older pictures of my boat I can see it had swept back skegs on it before I purchased it. This makes me think when somebody changed the lowers out they did not include the correct spacers. I am doing the swept back conversion now and I am wondering if I should go ahead and buy some spacers. What is a better X for my boat? 3.5, 4.5? Any input would be great.

Call Peter at Skater he will help you.
The only real way is trial and error.
How are you measuring it to come up with the 5.5?
I have talk to some people who do actually run the 5.5.

269-857-4308. Jodi will answer beteen 8-4 and Pete or Chirs will answer till 5.
After 5.. Goodluck. Don't call during 12-1, lunch hour for Pete.
Your best bet is to run the boat and then adjust to get the results you are looking for. A 5.5 will lack steering but have speed. A 3 will steer but be slower than a 5.5.
You will have to play to get the feel you want.

Re: 40 X Dimension
I cant be on the water until March anyway. Right now we are going to bigger sea strainers, hard anodizing my bellhousings, rigging a new fuel system, painting and polishing, etc, etc. Always something to do! I will post pics tonight.
