Long story short, he blew a drive and the gear ratios got all messed up(one motor was running 1000 RPM's higher than the other). 2 weeks ago, when he raced the 28, he had the wrong gear ratio in both drives, which nets him a top speed of about 98-101 mph. I believe the correct ratios were supposed to show up last week, so they should be installed by now. With the correct ratios, it runs 121, so your buddy would be in trouble It has twin 575SC's with XR drives. We both launch in Norwalk.

He loves the boat, but wants a 40 footer. In big seas, it gets tossed around. I've only been on it in flat water, so I cant really comment on what its like.

I think that may be a friend of mines old boat. I think this boat once belonged to offshore racer Paul Whittier.

It must have been rough, if he could only run 98-100 in normal conditions that 28 would have run all over him. 121 isnt that safe either, with stock 2.5's that boat should run in the mid teens, 300x's close to 120, anything modded to either setup will run over 120. Those boats surprise a lot of people!!I would love to have a 32 though, but having a hard enough time paying for broken parts on my 28

The guys with the 28 said it ran 106-107 with the 2.5's. I wasn't in either of the boats(I was way back in their rooster tails!), but it looked pretty close from what I could tell. I was told that they were running right around 100 mph. There were some rollers out, but overall it wasn't too bad.

We'll we went out on the maiden voyage today. This boat is a freaking blast!!! The boat accelerates like no tomorrow and jumps right up on plane. We encountered all types of water today. In dead calm water we ran it up to 7100 rpm but the gps stoped working so we had no clue how fast we were running. In 1-2ft chop the boat flew over everything and cruiser wakes. In a constant 2-3 footers it ran great again. This is such a fun boat. I got to throttle and drive in a following 3 foot sea. Then the ride back it got ruff. Good 3 to 4's. Thats when the ride went down hill a bit but we still ran about 40-45mph. I think. The gps still wasn't working. At idle speeds in the rough stuff you sure got wet but only once or twice while running in the rough. All in all I'd say this boat is really sweet and very fun to drive. Im definitely sold on cats and the outboards are very cool as well. Now all we need is a 35 or 36 cat with outboards to run in the rougher water.
